TWO SCHOOLS IN ATTIEGOU AND ADANGBE  RECEIVED EACH GRANTS WORTH 1 MILLION CFA

TOGO UNION UK, in association with ESPOIR NOUVEAU, has donated to two rural schools, EPP Attiegou and EPS Adangbe-Bè, in the Maritime region. School books, maps and water filters worth 1 million CFA, £920, were delivered to each school, by the team of ESPOIR NOUVEAU who has worked extremely hard and closely with TU UK over the past few years to help deliver grants.

Each year, Togo Union UK, the biggest Association of Togolese living in UK, organises fund raising events to fund grants to schools in rural areas in Togo.

This year, the beneficiaries, EPP Attiegou (École Publique Primaire d’Attiegou) and EPS Adangbe-Bè (École Publique Secondaire d’Adangbe-Bè) received teaching and learning materials including Languag, Geography, Science books and maps. To ensure clean water across the schools, water filters and buckets were also part of the grants. Drums and small musical equipments were also supplied.

The Association, funded in 1982 by the late Ayivi Ajavon when he was Ambassador in UK, has a long history of grants donation activities in rural Togo. It started raising money for medical support including dialysis treatments and school materials and repairs in rural areas.

Since 2011, Togo Union UK made a decision to focus only on school books, maps and drinking water in rural schools across all five regions. Since then, a number of schools have benefited in Maritime, Plateaux and Central regions.  Despite the high cost of transport to the most remote villages further up North, the Association is committed to raising more money, year on year in order to reach all regions.

In delivering those grants, Togo Union UK relies on Espoir Nouveau Togo, a charitable Organisation based in Tabligbo.  Its Director Mr Jerry Johnson has a committed hard working team who, each year, go around the chosen region to identify the neediest schools and gather information about them as well as working with their headteachers to draft a list of materials and equipment the schools desperately need to provide good quality education to the young students.

It is well known that other associations of the Togolese Diaspora provide a wide range of grants and support for various causes across the country. It is hoped that such programs will grow to assure our youth quality education even in most deprived areas.

Please help us support education in rural Togo.

To contact us, please write to our General Secretary or any member of the Executive Committee who will be happy to assist.

After Assagbakope in Anfoin and Amouzoukope in Tabligbo, for the 2012 and 2013 grants, Attiegou and Adangbe-Bè are the lucky beneficiaries of 2014 and 2015 grants worth 2 millions CFA in total
